Tennis is the Game of Life for Life

Our Purpose Is

To believe in and support underprivileged children who want to change the trajectory of their lives through tennis. Tennis is a vehicle for scholarship opportunities as we continue to nurture and support pathways to higher education.

Calvin Davis Sr.

Our Inspiration

Calvin Davis, Sr. believed everyone deserved a fair chance in life and education was the way to do that. So many people have said to me,

“Your father is responsible for me being the person I am today.”

My father taught me to reach back, give back, and help raise up those often overlooked. ~ Calvin Davis, Jr.

Testimonials

Just a note of thanks for all that you have given me in the course of this lifetime and what will and has carried me through the years away.

I can never express the level of gratitude and appreciation for your selfless dedication to the cause of bringing out the best in me and so many others.

Love and thanks
Cecil

Coach Calvin has been an inspirational instructor and mentor during my tennis career. He works relentlessly for his students so that they can succeed and reach their full potential. I love my coach because he hates excuses.

From his program, I have learned what tenacity, grit, and work ethic I must have in order to display my tennis skills in a match. Because of Coach Calvin’s superior coaching and life lessons, I can proudly say that I received a full tennis scholarship to Howard University.

Kendall Addison

Coach Davis would watch his players strokes, analyze their serves and body movement and offer an occasional “move your feet”, or “you were late getting to the ball”, or “that was a better approach”.  Often times, Coach Davis would pick up a racquet and demonstrate the skills that he wanted his players to emulate.

Thank you, Coach Davis for being the wind beneath Kendall’s wing when she had forgotten how to fly – when she tore her meniscus; for being her biggest fan – when she received All-State and All-Conference honors, and for encouraging  Kendall’s dream to play college tennis.  Your unwavering support and generosity will always be woven into the fabric of our lives.

Mrs. Addison

TAP Tennis shaped me into the person I am today, on and off the court.
I started coming to TAP when I was 8-years-old and continued every chance
I had until I graduated from Virginia Tech, where I had a full-ride to play
tennis all 4 years.

Calvin, CC, and the other coaches throughout the years were with me every step
of the way: when I was playing local tournaments in the 12s, to nationals in
the 18s, and even throughout my collegiate career.

Now that I no longer compete, I have noticed how these qualities have transferred
off the tennis court to my advantage in my professional and personal life.
I truly would definitely not be the player or person I am today without the
help of Calvin and TAP!
